7:15am — It’s my turn to bring Coco to school and I wanted to get up at 6am so I could work for two hours beforehand, but ended up waking up just before 7. I hate when that happens. I already feel like I wasted my time. I need to stop being too strict with myself — if I gotta sleep, I gotta sleep. It’s not like I got up at 11am everyday like I was at some point in my life. Today I want to talk about the first destination of the School Uniforms project — hence the header image (and the tune below). It’s too early to get into it right now but I’ll do that when I get back from dropping Coco off.

9:50am — Just posted videos of the A3 boxes I received yesterday on instagram story. Slowly but surely going back to using the platform again. Anyway. I’d like to talk about my project right now, nothing else. I’ve been wanting to reveal the first destination for days —even weeks— so it’s time that I finally do it.

Amongst 70+ countries, there was one particular one that stood out right from the beginning of my research. I think this is because I came across a photograph of school girls from that country, and it was love at first sight. That image (below) sent me huge waves of inspiration and clarity. As a result, the choice was very easy to make.

That country is : Uganda.

As soon as I made my choice, I went onto Google Flights to get an idea of prices for a return in order to start estimating my production expenses. The only international airport in Uganda is Entebbé.

Then I spent hours and hours on Google Maps, “walking’ through the streets of Entebbé and its surroundings. That was already super exciting so I can’t even imagine how it’ll feel when I’ll be there. It’ll probably look a bit familiar considering how long I’m spending on street view. Location scouting will be completely unnecessary since every single inch is a fucking beautiful location. Moreover, this is a documentary series, not a fashion editorial — location scouting is not required in the first place anyway. (I was actually referring to an eventual #ophelieandthegirls photoshoot while I’m there)
